Fun Finger Puppets From Dollar Tree

I made a stop at a Dollar Tree store a couple days ago and I found some cute finger puppet craft kits. The store I was in had 3 different sets.

Monsters…

Medieval…

And animals.

I bought the animal one and thought I would share it with you today. πŸ™‚

This is what you will find inside the package:

The 3 colored squares of felt actually have shapes cut into them that you will need to punch out. Have a pair of scissors handy for any pieces that might need a little help getting free.

You are now ready to start making your puppets! You will need your own glue. I suggest you lay all the pieces together for each puppet before you start gluing the pieces on. These little guys are pretty cute!

Mouse

Dog. The picture on the package shows curling the dogs ears down in front but I didn’t actually glue these puppets together because I wanted to pass this set on to some kids. So my dog’s ears are straight up. πŸ™‚

Bee. This one is so cute!

Tiger

And last, but not least, an adorable owl!

Each kit costs $1.25 (plus tax) and makes 5 puppets. Not bad, eh?

I found these in the Valentine’s Day section of the store. I hope you can find some near you! The kids will be putting on a puppet show before you know it! πŸ™‚

Yes, I Went to Dollar Tree Again…

Ok, I have a confession to make. I’m hooked on finding fun things for kids at the Dollar Tree stores! I met a lady today that was buying items for a vacation trip to the Outer Banks and she had a cart load of stuff! What a great way to save some money!

So let’s look at my find for today…a sticker book, but a different kind of sticker book. Sticker book puzzles.

In this book you use the numbered stickers to make 4 pictures.

You pick a numbered page and a page of numbered stickers. Sticker #1 goes on the #1 spot on the numbered page, then #2, etc.

This book is all about Mermaids but there was at least one other type about Carnivals. Check your nearest Dollar Tree store for what’s available close to you! πŸ˜ƒ

Fun Crayola Felt Flowers Kit

Welcome back to The Kids Niche! So glad you’re here! πŸ™‚

Today I want to share a super fun felt flowers craft kit that I found at the Dollar Tree store. I thought it was a nicely done kit, especially for $1.25!

You can make 4 felt flowers from each kit. Here is what is included in the kit:

To get started, a few of the parts need to be punched out. They came apart easily for me.

I would like to suggest that before you go any farther that you take a couple of minutes to trace around all the flower parts on a piece of paper so you will have patterns to make your own flowers later.

Now for the fun part! πŸ™‚ Each flower needs a set of matching flower pieces. 1 plain solid color piece and 1 plain solid color piece that has adhesive on the back side with a piece of white paper covering it.

Sort the pieces into 4 groups so you know which pieces you want to put together into 1 flower.

I started by putting the smaller flower piece with the face on it onto the front of a larger flower piece that has the white paper backing on it. Remove the paper backing from the face piece and press the piece onto the bigger flower piece.

Take the other matching big flower piece (the one without the paper backing) and lay it down on the table. Take 1 pipe cleaner and lay it on top of the flower piece for the stem of the flower.

Carefully remove the paper backing from the large flower piece that has the face on it, line the 2 big flower pieces up and press together. Once the adhesive touches something else, it doesn’t come back off very easily.

Last step is to remove the paper backing from one leaf and fold it in half around the stem to form a leaf.

That’s all that goes into making 1 flower. πŸ™‚ Repeat the process for the other 3 flowers and you’ve finished the kit!

Aren’t they so cute?! I just love them! Find a small vase or glass to display them in around your house. πŸ™‚ These would be cute flowers to help the kids make for mom or grandma, etc.

I hope these kits are available at your local Dollar Tree store! Happy flower making! πŸ™‚

Easter Finds at Dollar Tree

I know that the Easter holiday isn’t until April, but I saw some fun Easter items at a Dollar Tree store today. If any of these look good to you, don’t wait too long to head to your local Dollar Tree store because they tend to sell out of items fairly quickly! The Dollar Tree stores close to us have increased their prices to $1.25 for each item. But that is still much cheaper than other stores.

Let’s start with this adorable Easter box. They had 2 sizes of boxes at our Dollar Tree store, but items can differ from one store to another. This is a square box that is open on the top.

They also have a TON of plastic Easter eggs!! The packages go from as few as 6 large eggs to as many as 18 smaller eggs.

Here are some cute bunny treat bags! There are 4 in a package.

This is what they look like. They are made from cloth and I plan to put Easter treats inside a plastic bag before I put them inside of the bunny bags.

I found some adorable stuffed animals! πŸ™‚

Colorforms Sticker Story Adventure boards make for some great quiet time play!

And, of course, there is a LOT of candy! SweetTarts Jelly Beans looked pretty yummy to me.

Don’t forget chocolate bunnies!

I hope this will be some help for you as you plan your Easter shopping list of things to get for the kiddos’ Easter baskets! πŸ™‚

Dollar Tree Felt Craft Kits

I found a couple of felt craft kits at the Dollar Tree store and wanted to share this idea with you. At just $1.00 for each kit, you can craft with up to 5 kids! Pretty good price, right?! So here’s the 2 kits I found:

Let’s look at the penguin felt ornament kit first.

This little guy is so cute!

When you open the package, you will find 5 individually packaged kits.

In each individual package, you will find this:

The felt pieces for making the penguin have been punched and for the most part you can gently pull them apart to get the pieces ready to use. Have a pair of small scissors handy in case any pieces need a little help getting free.

Once all the pieces are separated, you are ready to put your penguin together. I would recommend using a craft glue like Tacky Glue instead of Elmer’s glue. I used the Elmer’s glue when making my penguin and I had some trouble getting the pieces to stay together. I switched to the Tacky Glue.

There weren’t any instructions included in the package, but you can figure out how to put the penguin together by looking at the picture on the front of the package. (Remember, this kit only cost $1.) πŸ˜‰ And here is my finished penguin! I think he’s a cutie!

Now let’s look at the second kit I bought. This kit is for making animal finger puppets.

They are cute too!

I had more difficulty getting these felt pieces separated and I did resort to using a pair of scissors at times. Also this package did not have the kits divided into separate kits already, so you will have to figure out which felt pieces go with each finger puppet. It’s rather like making a puzzle. πŸ˜‰

Here they are separated into the pieces for each animal. I didn’t go ahead and make the puppets because I wanted to save them for a fun project for some kids I know. πŸ˜‰

These kits might be a little too difficult for really young children but I’m sure ages 7 or 8 and up will enjoy making them. I’m not sure if the felt pieces will stick together well enough to be used as finger puppets, but they would definitely make some very cute ornaments to hang around your house. πŸ™‚ Mark these down as 2 more fun projects from Dollar Tree! πŸ™‚

More Fun Finds at Dollar Tree

I made a stop at our local Dollar Tree store and, of course, I had to check out the kids items. πŸ˜‰ That’s what grandmas do, right? I want to share 3 fun things with you that I saw.

#1.) Dominoes. Double Six dominoes, 28 pieces.

These will be great for helping kids learn to match numbers and colors or just for playing the game of Dominoes.

And yes, they will stand up so you can build lines that will fall down with a push on a single domino. πŸ™‚

#2.). Sparkle by Number Unicorn Kits

You just peel and stick on little β€œgems” to make the picture sparkle!

I know a little girl or two that would think this is fun to do and so pretty! (And maybe some BIG girls too!) πŸ˜‰

There were 2 different unicorn pictures at our local Dollar Tree store.

#3.). Barbie pets. They had a kitten and a bunny that would be fun to add to a Barbie doll play set.

I always have fun when I wander the aisles of our local Dollar Tree store! I hope you can find some fun goodies for yourself and for your favorite kids! πŸ₯°
