Easy Nilla Wafer Banana Pudding

Do you look for easy dessert or snack recipes to make with your kids? Here’s a great one that’s been around for a long time and has many different versions. There are ways to make this dessert from scratch, but this way is quicker and easier because it uses instant pudding. Doesn’t it look delicious? 🙂

You will need a box of Nilla wafers, 1 box of instant vanilla pudding, milk and bananas.

Begin by making a layer of Nilla wafers in the bottom of your dish.

You can use the Nilla wafers whole or you can break them in half. I prefer to break them because it’s easier for little mouths to eat them in smaller pieces.

Take a handful of Nilla wafers and put them in a ziploc bag and crush them into very small pieces.

Set the crumbs aside for a later step.

Next add a layer of sliced bananas on top of the Nilla wafer layer. I prefer to also cut the banana slices in half for little mouths.

Prepare the instant pudding with milk according to the package directions.

Pour the prepared pudding on top of the banana slices immediately after mixing, before it sets up.

Sprinkle some Nilla wafer crumbs on top to make it look nice.

Pop your bowl of yumminess into the refrigerator and let the pudding chill and set up. Then it’s time to enjoy! You can add whipped cream or sprinkles on top. You can also make 2 layers of each item or prepare it in individual bowls. But this dessert is super quick and easy and great fun for the kids to help make! 🙂

Taste Testing Tuesday #37 Pudding

It’s that time again – Taste Testing Tuesday! Today I thought we would check out some awesome pudding flavors. Before we get started, what do you THINK your favorite pudding flavor is? Let’s see if you change your mind after you do this taste test today! I’ll show you 3 flavors that are favorites at our house.

Can you guess what flavors of pudding are in each cup? The colors are orange, dark brown and yellow. Did you make your guesses? Ok, here’s what flavors they are:

#1.) Chocolate

#2.) Vanilla

#3.) Butterscotch

Did you guess the right flavors? I bet you got at least some of them right! Now it’s your turn! What flavors of pudding will you taste test? There are many more flavors available in the store. Like lemon, cheesecake, banana cream, pistachio, cookies ‘n cream, white chocolate and French vanilla. And maybe even more! I think I like vanilla the best, then chocolate and then butterscotch. (Or as my dad used to call it “sutterbotch”. That’s rather fun to say, isn’t it?) 😉 Leave me a comment and tell me what your favorite pudding flavor is and if doing this taste test made you decide you have a new favorite flavor!

Easy as Pie Chocolate Pie

Do your kids love helping out in the kitchen? Or would you like to encourage them to help make food more often? Here’s a super easy but very tasty recipe for a chocolate pie that kids can make! And it looks very nice when you are done. It only takes a few ingredients to make. You’ll start with a graham cracker crust…either one you make yourself or one you purchased.

Then you’ll need some milk, 2 small boxes of instant chocolate pudding, a container of Cool Whip and a few tiny chocolate chips. (You could use the regular size chocolate chips too.)

Start by pouring 4 Cups of cold milk into a large bowl.

Add the 2 small boxes of chocolate pudding mix into the bowl.

Stir with a whisk for 2 minutes.

Immediately pour the chocolate pudding into the graham cracker crust.

Place the pie in the refrigerator for 10-15 minutes until it is soft-set. Then take the pie out and add some Cool Whip to completely cover the top of the pie.

Sprinkle some chocolate chips on top and your beautiful pie is finished!

Store the pie in the refrigerator until it’s time to serve it. This is a great recipe for the kids to make and they will feel so proud when you serve it to guests or family and they can say, “I made this pie!” 🙂 It tastes great too! (I should know…I just ate a piece!)

Taco Tuesday Casserole

Happy Cinco De Mayo day, everyone! Whether you usually celebrate or not, aren’t Tuesday’s meant for tacos? Today’s post is about having a yummy taco tasting dish but made in a casserole so it’s simple and quick to do. Kids can have fun helping to make this meal. Items needed for Taco Tuesday Casserole are: 2 cups cooked rice, 1 – 14.5 oz can of cooked pork OR 1 pound of hamburger, 1 – 15.25 oz canned corn, 1 – 15 oz can of black beans, 1 – 14.5 oz can of diced tomatoes (we use fire-roasted), 1 – 4 oz can of canned green chiles, 1 package of taco seasoning and 1 – 8 oz bag of grated cheddar cheese. Other optional items would be chips for eating the casserole, sour cream, salsa, lettuce, etc. Whatever items you like with tacos. This recipe is very versatile, so feel free to change it up. Grease a 9″ x 13″ pan and turn your oven on to 350 degrees.

If you are using hamburger, start by browning it in a large skillet. After the hamburger is cooked thoroughly, (or if you are using cooked pork) mix the meat, corn, black beans, diced tomatoes, the package of taco seasoning and diced green chiles, together in a large skillet and heat until everything is heated through.

You can make a layer of rice in the bottom of your 9″ x 13″ pan and then pour the combined ingredients over the rice. OR you can mix the rice into the skillet with the other ingredients. This time I mixed the rice in. Pour combined ingredients into the 9″ x 13″ pan.

You can mix about 1/3 of the package of grated cheese into the mixture or just sprinkle it all on the top. Bake at 350 degrees for around 30 minutes or until its bubbly.

This time around we just had Tostitos Scoops chips and sour cream with the casserole.

Doesn’t it look yummy?

Mmmm! It tastes great! Since I’m late getting this posted, maybe you can try it next Tuesday! Ha! Enjoy and thanks for visiting my blog!
