It’s National Lego Day!

WHEEHAW! National Lego is a day to celebrate! Dust off those Lego sets and start building! 🙂

Lego sets are fun whether they are a big set or a very small set.

While Lego sets may seem to be on the expensive side, when you consider all the time that will be spent playing with them and all the different things that can be made from one set, it turns out not to be as expensive as it might seem at first.

Lego sets make great gifts! Here are some happy smiles from Christmas. 🙂

(Yes, that is a candy cane in his mouth.) Lol 😉

Building Lego is good for relaxation and also for mental stimulation. Did you know Lego even sponsors corporate retreats for adults? Sign me up! 🙂 There are Legoland theme parks (on my bucket list!), a Legoland Discovery Center in Tempe, AZ and lots of Lego retail stores you can visit. There are such things as Lego clothing, backpacks, bags, video games and Lego movies.

It can be fun to collect themed sets of Lego.

And it’s so fun to look forward to new Lego sets each year!

Be sure to check out all the fun at! Have a great National Lego Day! 🙂

Lego Friends Animal Cubes

I’ve seen the cute Lego Friends Animal Cubes in the stores but I hadn’t bought one until recently when I found it on sale. These things are cute!! The little characters that come in them are girls so I suppose this toy is meant to be more for girls than boys. If you’ve wondered what all you get in a cube, I’ll show you today what came in the one I have…Stephanie’s Cat Cube.

First let me say, that each cube comes with a surprise animal. The package tells you what kind of animal it is such as a cat, but the color is a surprise until you open the little package inside. When you take the contents out of the cardboard packaging, this is what you’ll see:

The directions for building are included and when you open them up and open up the bag with the building pieces in it, this is what you have:

But you also need to open the cube because there are more things tucked inside of it.

Ready to start building? I think it helps to lay all the pieces out on the table with like colors together.

Let’s put Stephanie together first.

Follow the step-by-step directions to put the Lego pieces together. Oh, let’s open the mystery box and see what our surprise kitten looks like!

I got a tiny pink kitten! Sooo cute! 🙂

There are 2 stickers that go inside your cube and you make some ears that go on the outside of the cube.

Aaaand here we are, all put together and ready to play!

There are a few extra pieces of Lego included (in case some get lost) and there are a few more stickers that you can put wherever you like.

I’ll show you where I put my extra stickers. A couple of them on the top of the cube…

And 5 on the back of the cube. Pretty cute, aren’t they?

When you are done playing and it’s time to put your cube away, you will need to take the “put together” pieces out of the slots they slide into when standing upright. If you lay them inside the cube, you will be able to close the cube with your pieces safely tucked inside.

There are a few more Lego Friends Animal cubes available to buy in stores. (And now I want them all!) The regular price seems to be close to $9.99 but there are a few on sale on Amazon (for a limited time it says!) for $8.00 and $8.50. I saw some on Ebay with higher prices so look for those at least around $10.

When looking for these animal cubes online, I found that there are also other types of the Lego Friends cubes. Such as a fashion cube, a gaming cube, a shopping cube, a soccer cube, a play cube, a swimming cube and likely a few more.

I hope this post will help you learn just what these Lego Friends Cubes are like and perhaps you’ll want to buy some for your favorite girl! (I am not affiliated with any stores that sell these. Just sharing my thoughts!) 🙂

Does It Have to be Lego Brand to be Fun?

Do your kids love Lego brand building blocks, but the price for them makes your wallet moan? I hear you!! I have to admit that I’ve always been one of those “it has to be Lego” people…until now. We always had Lego when our kids were growing up but I often wished there was a cheaper version. “Back then” we did try some other brands and found them sadly lacking. But I have found some sets recently that are a great, cheaper alternative and I even found some sets with a Christmas theme. I’m going to share this set with you today:

I found this set…and many others…at the website This set is on sale for $8.00 right now! (Unfortunately, they have been swamped with orders, so they are no longer guaranteeing delivery by Christmas. But you might want to keep this in mind, for those upcoming birthdays.) So, let’s start putting it together! The pieces come in 3 plastic bags inside the box and there is a booklet with step by step directions.

Separating the pieces into little piles of each color makes it easier to find the piece you are looking for as you build.

Haha! Look at these cute little pieces! What do you think they are a part of?

Sometimes when you start making a building blocks set, it’s hard to tell what you are working on. Can you tell what this is?

A few steps later and it’s taking shape now!

Ta dah! If you guessed the sleigh, you are right!

Now back to those pieces that had eyes on them…add a few more pieces to them and I bet you can tell what this is going to be!

Did you say “a reindeer”? Yep, that’s right!

In this kit, you get to make 4 reindeer. Aren’t they cute?

Now to line everything up in just the right way…add a few more pieces…and presto! All done! Doesn’t it look festive?

This Christmas set was fun to put together and is rated 3 stars out of 5 for the difficulty level. A few of the pieces were a little hard to snap together but overall it’s a nice set. The quality isn’t quite as good as the Lego brand items, but it’s still nice. The reindeer and this sleigh will find its way to a spot in our winter decorations! 🙂 I hope you found this helpful!
