Tongue Twister Time!
Hi, everyone! It’s time to loosen up your tongues for these crazy tongue twisters! All together now, take your tongue to the left…take your tongue to the right…now up high….and now down low! Ok, let’s see if we can manage to say all these tongue twisters!!
#1.) The happy hippo hopped as he hiccupped.
#2.) A synonym for cinnamon is a cinnamon synonym.
#3.) Each Easter Eddie eats eighty Easter eggs.
#4.) A skunk sat on a stump and thunk the stump stunk, but the stump thunk the skunk stunk.
#5.) Green glass globes glow greenly.
#6.) She sees cheese. (Ok, that one is short, but it’s still hard to repeat it!)
#7.) Double bubble gum, bubbles double.
#8.) Kids and kittens knit in the kitchen.

Dollar Tree Finds
The Dollar Tree store near us always seems to have something fun in the way of toys and crafts. I love going there are finding neat things for only $1.00 each! I was happy with some things I found the other day and wanted to share them with you.
Playmobil individual figures.
Playmobil is a great toy, but they aren’t the cheapest thing around, so I thought it was great to find these surprise packages with a Playmobil figure inside for just $1.00!
They come with some directions but you might have to figure out some of it by looking at the picture on the package. This is the surprise that was in my package. Pretty cool dude!
I also found a chalkboard with an easel back on it ($1) and a pack of 4 chalkboard heart tags ($1). And there were several colors of chalk writer pens ($1 each). I bought purple and white. Next time I’m there, I’m hoping to buy some more colors. 🙂
Just for fun, here’s an idea of what you can do with the chalkboard and chalk writer pens. The pens do write a fairly wide line.
Because it has the easel backing on it, you can stand it up anywhere.
When you’re ready for a new sign, simply wipe the chalkboard clean with a damp paper towel.

Makit & Bakit Kit for Making a Suncatcher
The other day I mentioned we would be making a suncatcher with a Makit & Bakit kit that I bought at a Joann Fabrics store. Today’s the day! I have seen this type of kit before but I had never done one. So time to teach an old dog a new trick! 😉 Here’s how they are done:
This is what was included in the kit. The instructions were printed on the back of the cardboard.
The idea of making them is simple. First line a cookie sheet with aluminum foil.
Place the frame, flat side down, onto the foil lined cookie sheet.
Start with one color and fill an area of the frame with that color of the little plastic pieces. First I did orange.
Then the yellow…
Next came green…
And finally the blue.
The trick is getting and keeping the colors in the places you want them. It’s good to have a toothpick and a pair of tweezers handy for moving the little pieces around. And tweezers are nice for filling in the little spaces. Here’s a closer view so you can see what they look like when they are ready for the oven.
Now you preheat the oven according to the package directions. Do NOT use a microwave!! Place the cookie sheet with your suncatcher in the heated oven and follow the package directions for how long to let it bake. Mine took about 15 minutes. A word of caution: Open your windows while your suncatcher is in the oven. It will give off a plastic smell. The package says it is not harmful, but if you are sensitive to odors, you might not like this part of the process. After the plastic pieces have melted, remove the cookie sheet and let the suncatcher cool before handling. Then it should peel off the foil easily. Because of the odor, I sat my cookie sheet outside to cool and that helped a lot to dispel the odor.
And there is your suncatcher! Add a bit of string if you like to hang it up. It was a fun project but a little tedious getting the little pieces in just the right place, so this might be good for kids that are a bit older. (I accidentally dropped my tweezers on my suncatcher which made the tiny pieces go flying all over…and then I had to clean them up!) And of course, adult supervision is needed when using the oven. Happy National Unicorn Day!
Did you know that today is National Unicorn Day? Well, now you do! Haha! I found out just a couple of days ago and decided we needed to do something to celebrate! So here is an adorable quick craft kit that I found at a Joann Fabric store.
The pieces that you put on the felt unicorn are like stickers. You peel that paper off the back and stick it where it goes. It does not include printed instructions, but you can tell what to do by looking at the picture on the package.
First I took all the pieces out of the package and laid them out so I could see what I had to work with.
Next I punched out all the sticker pieces and discarded the outside edges.
I placed her sparkly unicorn horn and her ear on.
Then came her 2 piece saddle and her pink mane.
Now for 4 pink hooves and a pink tail.
Lastly, I placed the 4 little flowers for a crown on her head.
All done! Isn’t she pretty? That was a fun way to celebrate National Unicorn Day! I hope you have a good day too! (Next year, maybe I can plan ahead for more unicorn fun!) 😉

Things to Put Inside Plastic Easter Eggs
Do you buy the plastic eggs for Easter? Do you use those for your Easter Egg Hunt? Do you have a hard time coming up with things to put inside the plastic eggs? I want to share a few suggestions for you here.
#1.) Candy. A lot of moms and dads want to cut back on the candy their kids get at Easter time but everyone wants a little candy, right? There are lots of kinds of candy that are small enough pieces that they will fit inside an egg. One suggestion is jelly beans. There are many flavors of jelly beans so if you don’t like the first ones you see, keep looking. These jelly beans are actually Sweet Tart flavors.
#2.) Mini Fruit By the Foot. Depending on the size of your plastic eggs…and how much you squish them…these will fit inside an egg. 😉 At least I got them inside our eggs! Lol
#3.) Kid Band-Aids. These are Toy Story ones so, of course, they are cool.
#4.) Stickers. I found some colored Easter egg stickers, but there are a million kinds of stickers out there! We also had kittens and puppies and dinosaurs and Minions and…yep, you got the picture.
#5.) Pom-poms. These are great for making crafts or the larger ones make very soft balls for throwing in the house.
#6.) Pipe Cleaners or Chenille Stems. Yep, just wrap them up in a circle and they’ll fit inside a plastic egg.
#7.) Letter Stickers to spell the child’s name.
#8.) Puzzle pieces. This one is fun because after the Easter Egg Hunt is done, there is a puzzle to put together.
#9.) Loom Bands. Do your kids make bracelets out of these colorful little rubber bands? Hide some in an Easter egg.
#10.) Hair barrettes, clips or pony tail holders.
#11.) Small Lego sets. This is a larger sized egg that this Lego set is pictured with. But how cool would it be to find Lego in an egg?!
I hope these few suggestions help you find things to fill your plastic Easter eggs. There are tons more things you could use, so just spend a little time wandering down the aisles of your local store and I’m betting you’ll find plenty of ideas. 🙂

Drawing Owlvin Owl for Kids
How about some drawing fun today? Owls are such awesome animals that I think it would be great fun to draw one. As the title of this blog post tells you, I named my owl Owlvin. (Of course, you can name your owl something totally different.) Grab a piece of paper and a pencil and let’s start with a nice plump oval shape which will be the owl’s body.
Next we’ll add a wing on each side of the body.
Add 2 circles towards the top of the oval for eyes. And put a little black dot inside each circle.
Draw a triangle for a nose and add a little mouth.
Let’s add a couple of little tufts at the top of his head.
Now you can add a little tummy.
Draw 3 toes on each side for his feet.
A few lines can be added to make him look more like he has feathers.
Once you have the drawing just the way you want it, you can go over all the lines with a black pen or fine line black marker.
After the ink is completely dry, you can very lightly use an eraser to remove any leftover pencil marks that you can see. Last but not least, give your owl some color.
